- Both on Windows and Mac, the latest version of Rhino 6 comes bundled with Grasshopper and both are updated mutually. There’s no need to update Grasshopper separately. Now, if you’re still using Rhino 5 the latest Grasshopper version (i.e. 0.9) might also be the last one.
- The v23 & v24 of Grasshopper – Archicad Live Connection supports Rhino 5 and Rhino 6 on both platforms (Win & macOS). On Windows both v21,v22 of Grasshopper – Archicad Live Connection supports Rhino6. On macOS both v21 and v22 of Grasshopper – Archicad Live Connection supports Rhino5. They don’t support Rhino6 WIP.
- Grasshopper, the world's most beautiful programming language, is now a full-fledged part of Rhino. Modeling Refinements In Rhino 6, we have refined features and smoothed out small quirks making Rhino much more refined.
- Perform tasks in Rhino or Grasshopper that you don't have access to in the standard set of Rhino commands or Grasshopper components. Generate geometry using algorithms. Many, many other things. It is a programming language after all. Both the Windows and Mac versions of Rhino contain support for the Python scripting language.
Overview
The long wait is over: Rhino 6 includes Grasshopper. Used in some of the most ambitious design projects of the past decade, Grasshopper, like Rhino, has become a robust development platform. Grasshopper provides the foundation for many third-party components ranging from environmental analysis to robotic control. The Grasshopper bundled with Rhino 6 is the same Grasshopper you have been using, plus many enhancements.
Same ol' Grasshopper ...only better!
The Grasshopper in Rhino 6 is the same Grasshopper we've been busy developing for years so it should be familiar. That said, it does have many new features and enhancements that were not in the long-lived beta.
One Install
Grasshopper installs with Rhino 6. Updates and bug fixes come in regular service releases.
Familiar
If you have been a user for years, you should feel right at home in the Grasshopper in Rhino 6.
High DPI
High DPI displays are now supported.
Grasshopper For Mac Rhino Pro
Compatible
The Grasshopper in Rhino 6 is compatible with existing components.
...and many more.
New Components
Including Make2D, Symbol Display, Bend, Flow, Maelstrom, Splop, Splorph, Stretch, Taper, Twist.
Kangaroo
Kangaroo - the interactive dynamic relaxation solver/physics engine - is now included.
Multi-Threaded Components
Some components now solve much faster using parallel computing.
GhPython
GhPython is also included. It features its own GHA compiler and a major node-in-code speed up.
An Easy Target
Grasshopper is now a stable development target: your components continue to work with each minor Grasshopper update.
Also, developing Grasshopper components using RhinoCommon exposes more Rhino core-functionality from within Grasshopper.
Developer documentation is online with guides and API references.
And More
As always, there are many bug fixes.

Grasshopper software is a graphical algorithm editor that works as a plugin for the Rhinoceros 3D modeling package. Therefore it employs Rhino’s tools and presents new ways to expand and monitor the 3D design and modeling process. For instance, it helps in creating geometry with the help of mathematical functions, modifying complex models and much more. Above all, grasshopper software facilitates designers with maximum flexibility to generate either simple or complex forms. That’s why to gain programming or scripting knowledge regarding the program is not at all a mandatory step.
So, being a full-fledged part of Rhino, grasshopper software has developed into a stable development platform.
Grasshopper software for mac:
Grasshopper for mac is available in rhino for mac in the form of an integrated application. To clarify, rhino 6 for mac consist of grasshopper that certainly amazes with a faster display through modern graphics hardware support. While featuring multithreaded components and rendering system, grasshopper software for mac behaves matchlessly through VP support.
However, rhino 6 for mac serves only those users who already own a license of rhino 5 for mac. Thereby updating to rhino 6 is a preferable option rather than installing rhino 6 to avail grasshopper for mac.
New Features of grasshopper software:
Although grasshopper software comes bundled with rhino it is no more different than the one you are familiar with. The installation of rhino 6 means the installation of grasshopper indirectly. Most importantly, updates and bug fixes are part of this program similar to other applications.
Below we are going to state a few of the new features that are now part of this application. So let’s have a look.
- Now supports high DPI displays.
- Some more bug fixes.
- The grasshopper in rhino 6 holds an absolute harmony with existing components.
- New components comprise of Symbol Display, Bend, Flow, Maelstrom, Splop, Splorph, Stretch, Taper, Twist.
- Kangaroo which is an interactive dynamic relaxation solver/physics engine is now part of grasshopper software.
- Some components now solve quickly while using parallel computing.
- Python is also its part now. It characterizes its own GHA compiler and a dominant node-in-code speed up.
Since Grasshopper is now a more stable development target. So your components keep on working with each minor Grasshopper update. In addition, developing Grasshopper components while employing RhinoCommon exposes more Rhino core-functionality from within Grasshopper.
Conclusion:
The program owns matchless flexibility and extensibility, therefore, it plays awesomely with other software. To clarify both rhino and grasshopper are competent to import and export to and from other applications. Here we mean only those tools, particularly that take part in architectural design practice. So, good luck!
